After doing a lot of research before my procedure, I compiled a list of questions that I wish I had known to ask earlier. Sharing here in case it helps someone. **Before booking:** - How many times have you performed this specific procedure this month? - Can I see before/after photos of patients with a similar starting point to mine? - Who will be in the OR with you during my procedure? - What is your policy if I am unhappy with the result? **About safety:** - Is there an anesthesiologist (not just a nurse anesthetist) present? - Does the OR have CCTV? Can I confirm this before surgery? - What is your emergency protocol if something goes wrong? - Where is the nearest hospital and what is your transfer procedure? **About recovery:** - What are the warning signs I should watch for post-op? - When can I fly home? (Critical for medical tourists) - How many follow-up appointments are included? - What happens if I develop a complication after I return home? The surgeons who gave me the best answers were also the ones I felt most comfortable with. The ones who seemed annoyed by the questions were immediate red flags.
I got my nose done at a mid-sized clinic in Apgujeong back in November. Three months out now and I feel ready to share an honest account. The consultation was thorough — about 45 minutes with the actual surgeon, not a coordinator. He showed me 3D simulations and was upfront about what was achievable given my bone structure. No pressure to add procedures. Surgery day was smooth. I was in and out in about 3 hours. The clinic had CCTV in the OR which I confirmed with the staff beforehand — huge peace of mind. Recovery was harder than I expected. Days 3-5 were rough. Swelling peaked around day 4 and I genuinely looked alarming. My recovery hotel was a lifesaver — they had a nurse on call and provided cold compresses every few hours. At 3 months: I am genuinely happy with the result. The profile looks natural, not "done." The tip is slightly higher than I wanted but the surgeon warned me this could happen and it has softened over time. Happy to answer questions. I'll keep updating at 6 months and 1 year.
I got quotes from 6 clinics for the same procedure (double eyelid surgery) and the range was ₩800,000 to ₩4,500,000. That's almost a 6x difference. I understand some of it is location (Apgujeong vs. other areas), surgeon experience, and clinic overhead. But I genuinely cannot tell from the consultations alone what justifies the premium at the top end. Has anyone done a lot of clinic shopping? What factors actually correlated with better outcomes in your experience? I'm trying to figure out if the expensive clinics are actually better or if it's just branding.
Flying in from Singapore next month for a procedure. Looking for recovery hotel recommendations within walking distance of the Apgujeong clinic strip. Must-haves: - Blackout curtains (light sensitivity post-op) - Air purifier in room - Fridge for medications - Staff who speak at least basic English - Flexible check-in/check-out (my discharge time is unpredictable) Nice to have: - In-house nurse or medical support - Meal delivery coordination - Laundry service Budget is flexible — I'd rather pay more for the right place than save money and have a miserable recovery. Any personal recommendations appreciated.
I keep seeing so many posts about revision rhinoplasty — way more than any other procedure. Why is the nose so prone to needing revisions? Trying to understand before I commit to anything! 😅
Quick question for anyone who knows Korea well — why are dermatology clinics spread across both Gangnam AND Myeongdong, but plastic surgery seems to be almost exclusively in Gangnam/Apgujeong? Is Myeongdong more for tourists while Apgujeong is where locals go for the serious stuff? Trying to plan my medical trip and want to make sure I'm going to the right area! 😊
